Dear Visitors and Friends of Churburg Castle

It has been over 500 years that Churburg Castle has been in possession of my family. The castle, originally built in 1259, has evolved from a medieval fortress into a stylish renaissance residence which it largely remains to this day. The inner courtyard, framed by a beautifully painted arcade, the splendid Jakob’s Chamber with its ornately carved ceiling and the Matschersaal with family portraits and artifacts are testimony to Churburg Castle’s impressive history. World-renowned is the Churburg Armory. It is surely fair to describe it as the most significant dynastic armory in the world. A large number of unique, artistically unparalled armors belonging to our ancestors and their soldiers are on display in the armory. The tradition of owning and preserving such a historic building is both an obligation and a privilege. I do not see myself as the owner, rather as a lifelong administrator of a cultural treasure. I hope that you enjoy visiting this site and I look forward to welcoming you to Churburg Castle.

Sincerely
Count Johannes J. Trapp
